Alphasim's slogan is: "Quality add-ons for MS Flighsimulator" which is definitely true. It is mostly payware but you can find a couple of nice freeware aircraft on the site too.

The group mostly focused on military aircraft, both fixed-winged and rotor aircraft. They have produced a large number of different types, from the C130 to Russian military aircraft like the Badger.

Some of the freeware stuff have broken links unfortunately and I haven't been able to find them anywhere else, but if you know where to find those, please post it in the comments section of this post.

Amazing scenery for Pavas, San Jose, Costa Rica

I didn't really have any high hopes on this scenery and in fact the first sign of low frame rates, which in fact turned out just to be some of the massive textures loading made me jump to the conclusion that this scenery wasn't any good. However I made myself take a harder look at it and found it to be absolutely wonderful.

Except for the crappy frame rates at the moment of loading the textures it works great and what an attention to detail Bob Whitney has! The cars that belong to the other pilots, the aircrafts in the hangars, the textures all is an amazing piece of work.

This scenery is a must if you ever plan to fly around Costa Rica, and before I hadn't even contemplating that but now I most certainly will. Bob learned GMAX and made each and every part of the scenery into its own .bgl file which means you can remove the ones you want and improve performance that way, a really good thought.

Veneaviones Cessna Citation II

Veneaviones has been mentioned here in this blog before but now it's an older model they made of the Cessna Citation II business jet. A very nice model.

The panel I used can also be found at avsim and the filename is lscc2_9.zip and the update called lscc2_fix.zip.

Military AI

Just discovered and installed something really cool for my flightsim a bunch of AI aircraft, neetly packages in self-extracting files that fills my sim with military AI's.

I am not as happy as my girlfriend who just unpacked her new iPhone is, but this will certainly suffice. The pic is from Andrews AFB with among other things the VC-25 that the President flies around in. Nice!

Free FS9 Water Textures

With the new REX and all the names of the new texture sets available for FS9 and FSX it is easy to forget that there are some nice freeware sets out there.

This is one of them, the difference is drastic om the water textures. I did however put the display setting a bit low and at first it looked just plain ridiculous but once I turned it up it improved into a very nice texture. As long as you backup the old ones why don't you give it a try.

Tropical Sim's São Paulo

Tropical sim just released their fs9 and fsx version of São Paulo Intl. From the screenshots it looks stunning but at the hefty cost of 21,42 euro.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Africa is unfortunately a very underdeveloped continent in flightsimming which meant I didn't fly enough on this continent. But that is about to change. After taking an 8h flight down to Nairobi I plan on flying around this beautiful continent some more and to my aid I have a nice scenery, very nice actually of this airport. The Jomo Kenyatta Intl scenery was made by Nuhaid Abdulkhaleq and is definitely wort the short download time. Excellent frame rates and a pleasure on the eyes I highly recommend you to download this scenery and explore the continent somewhat more in the near future.
